9/11 Repercussions
That's 2,977 mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents and friends that died that day. For the families who were directly affected, the heart ache and pain was overwhelming. New Jersey native, Vicki Shoemaker, whose son died on September 11th, 2001 described what she went through. "On a beautiful, sunny, Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, I lost my son. He was at his job at Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor. We did not hear from him at all. From that fateful moment, my life would never be the same."
Whatever the reason, these 200 or so people will forever be remembered as the 9/11 jumpers, the ones who looked death in the eyes and greeted him with a smile. This is what left the U.S so tramutized seeing people take their lives and seeing it broadcasting on television. The jumpers couldn't control their destiny and their families had to suffer from it.
